The girls soccer team won a senior night match against Anderson on Tuesday, with 4-0 shut-out in their final home match of the season. The Trojan squad is loaded with seniors this year. Those seniors include Audra Cornett, Dru Criswell, Chelsea Groce, Corinne Harvey, Aliviah Putnam, Chloe Ross, Bailey Stearns, Audrey Tafoya, Emery Vulgan, and Watkuweis Watson. All of these young ladies have been wonderful representatives of their school and community on and off the field. It was a junior, however, who opened the scoring on the night. Tay Thompson made a solid first half run and put the Trojans on the board first. Later in the game, freshman Carlee Lanzer followed up with the team's second goal before the seniors would take over the scoring. Seniors Bailey Stearns and Chelsie Groce scored within 30 seconds of each other to reach the final tally of 4-0. Senior Audrey Tafoya threatened to score with several very long shots-on-goal and kept the Anderson goal keeper on their toes for most of the night. Chloe Ross also had several shot attempts and a penalty kick attempt. Overall, the Girls in Green played a strong game and earned the win on their home turf. The Trojans move to a 5-10 record and will play their final regular season game on Thursday when they travel to Rushville. That match will begin at 6:30PM. Then, on Tuesday October 8, sectional play opens with New Castle facing Delta for the second time this season. That match will be hosted by Mississnewa High School at 6:00PM
