The girls soccer team moved to 1-1 on the season after dropping a tough 5-4 match against an experienced Connersville squad. The girls were down 3-1 midway thru the first half with Tay Thompson scoring the first Trojan goal off an assist from Chelsie Groce. The Trojans finished the first half down 4-2 with Bailee Smith adding to the visitor's score column. In the second half, the girls in green responded with energy and poise. The defense, led by goalkeeper Allison Perdew, held the Spartans to one goal and Allison made 5 of her 7 seven saves in the second half. The Trojans also won the time of possession battle in the second half. Audra Cornett distributed the ball well on the offensive side where she led the team with two assists. Chelsie Groce and Carlee Lanzer each added goals off of Cornett's assists. Lanzer also dished an assist of her own to Smith in the first half. While still a loss, the game was a huge step forward for a team with five underclassmen in its starting lineup. The Trojans play again on Saturday August 24 when they travel to Shelbyville for an HHC matchup with the Golden Bears. Game to start at 10:00AM.
