Anytime you add two all state caliber players to an already talented team with a returning all state singles player from a year ago moving to #1 doubles, the challenge is going to be great. But our Trojan girls battled the 16th ranked Marauders with 4 of the 5 varsity courts having first sets that were up for grabs until the very end. The Trojans had leads at #1 and #2 singles with Morley and Peyton Blessinger and the #2 doubles team of Cadence Armacost and Teagan Brown in the first sets and Cadence and Teagan jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the second set. Ashlynn Blessinger battled a tough senior player at #3 singles and the #1 doubles team of Jaylee Bush and Emma Harris played great with their score not showing how close the individual games were. In the end, Mt. Vernon had a little more experience and were able to win all matches. Couldn't be more proud of how the girls competed and played with high character throughout the match. Tonight, we honor our 6 seniors: Morley, Teagan, Jaylee, Payton, Lauren, and Matthew on Senior Night vs. Anderson. Match start time is 5:00 with senior festivities at 4:30.
