The girls battled a top 25 team in the state on Monday night and competed great. Delta returned 6 of their top 8 players from a team that made it to State a season ago losing to eventual State Champion Carmel and the Trojans have 4 freshman playing varsity this season. Through about the first hour the match was back and forth as the #1 and #2 singles matches were both in close first set tiebreakers and freshman Ashlynn Blessinger had gained a 3-0 advantage in the 2nd set after losing the first. Ultimately, Morley Blessinger and Peyton Blessinger both fell in those tough tiebreakers. I was proud of all the girls tonight. Our doubles battled against two very good doubles team as well. 1S - Morley Blessinger lost 6-7(3), 2-6 2S - Peyton Blessinger lost 6-7(2), 0-6 3S - Ashlynn Blessinger lost 1-6, 4-6 1D - Jaylee Bush/Emma Harris lost 0-6, 0-6 2D - Cadence Armacost/Teagan Brown lost 2-6, 2-6 The JV suffered a defeat, but we got several players multiple matches, final JV score was 12-4. Winners were the doubles teams of Cloe Poe/Makayla Flynn, Chelsie Groce/Watkuweis Watson, Abby Moore/Anne Truman, and Emmarie Murphy/Lauren Watterson. Varsity record is now 7-2 overall and 1-2 in HHC. JV record is 5-2. The Trojans travel to Muncie Central Tuesday night.
