New Castle High School

The boys tennis team came in 2nd place on Saturday in the New Castle Invite. In round 1, we swept Northeastern 5-0 to move on to the championship round. For the title, we lost a close 2-3 decision to Western. We played very good all day at all five positions. #3 Singles Caden Blackford and the #1 Doubles team of Leo Underhill/Matt Hastings went undefeated on the day. Round 1: 5-0 vs. Northeastern 1S - Jake Jenkins won 6-3, 6-4 2S - Vincent Farris won 6-2, 6-4 3S - Caden Blackford won 6-0, 6-3 1D - Leo Underhill/Matt Hastings won 6-1, 6-0 2D - Austin Nunez/Cameron Hastings won 6-2, 6-2 Championship Round: 2-3 vs. Western 1S - Jenkins lost 0-6, 2-6 2S - Farris lost 4-6, 1-6 3S - Blackford won 6-4, 7-6 1D - Underhill/M. Hastings won 6-4, 6-4 2D - Nunez/ C. Hastings lost 4-6, 1-6 The Trojans are now 5-1 on the season and travel to Greenfield-Central for an HHC match on Tuesday.
