New Castle Varsity Boys Basketball Team got a dominating victory on Friday against a very talented Shelbyville Golden Bears team 89 to 54. The Trojans got off to a fast start on the offensive end, and made Shelbyville work for every shot opportunity they got. The Trojans shots from the perimeter, and made the Golden Bears shoot contested jump shots. The Trojans were led in scoring by Luke Bumbalough with 9 points. Nicolas Grieser added 8 points. Mason Hardwick had 5 points. Blake Burris added 3 points and Collin Blessinger had 2 points. The Trojans were leading at the first 27 to 7.
The second quarter the Trojans continued to have everything clicking on both ends of the floor. The Trojans were pushing the basketball in transition and getting whatever shots we wanted to on every possession. The Trojans continued to make the Golden Bears shoot contested outside shots on every possession. The Trojans were led in scoring by Luke Bumbalough with 16 points. Blake Burris added 5 points. Collin Blessinger had 3 points and Nicolas Grieser added 2 points. The Trojans had the lead at half over Shelbyville 52 to 13.
At the half, the Trojans did not make any adjustments. Offensively, the Trojans wanted to continue to push the basketball in transition and make the extra pass to get great shots. Defensively, the Trojans wanted to continue to contest every shot, but also we wanted to make sure Shelbyville was limited to one and done every single time down the floor. In the third quarter the Trojans were led in scoring by Brandon Matney with 6 points. Luke Bumbalough added 5 points. Cole McDaniel, Nicolas Grieser, and Mason Hardwick all added 2 points. After the third quarter the Trojans led Shelbyville 69 to 29.
To start the fourth quarter, the Trojans had the opportunity to get every player in the game. The subs continued to do a great job on the offensive end, but let Shelbyville get going on offense. Shelbyville left their starters in until about 3 minutes to go in the game. The Trojans in the fourth quarter were led in scoring in by Cole McDaniel with 5 points. Dillon Bergum, Wes Chamberlin, and Nolan Beam all had 3 points. William Grieser, Mason Hardwick, and Deven Fielden all had 2 points. The Trojans beat the Shelbyville Golden Bears 89 to 54.
Offensively, the Trojans were clicking from the start of the game. The Trojans were pushing the basketball in transition and moving the basketball and literally got whatever shot they wanted to in the ball game. The Trojan shooters Mason Hardwick, Luke Bumbalough, and Blake Burris were knocking down shots all night. Brandon Matney and Collin Blessinger crashed the boards hard and finished when the guards drove the basketball and drew there defenders. Defensively, the Trojans did a nice job of limiting Shelbyville to one shot opportunity every time they had the ball. The Trojans had great help side defense if one defender got beat. Nicolas guarded Shelbyvilles best player any time he was in the game. The Trojans did a great job tonight playing team defense.

Brandon Matney had 6 points and Collin Blessinger added 5 points. Dillion Bergum, Wes Chamberlin, and Nolan Beam all had 3 points. William Grieser and Deven Fielden both had 2 points.
The Trojans are 2-2 to start the season. The New Castle Trojans will be back in action today, December 8 against the Brownsburg Bulldogs at Southport High School. The Varsity game will tip at approximately 3:20pm. Go Trojans!!!
