New Castle Varsity Boys Basketball Team got a dominating victory on Friday against a physical Muncie Burris Owls team 90 to 54. The Trojans got off to a fast start on the offensive end, and made Muncie Burris work for every shot opportunity they got. The Trojans shot the ball extremely well all night long. The Trojans were led in scoring by Luke Bumbalough and Mason Hardwick both with 6 points. Nicolas Grieser added 5 points. Cole McDaniel had 3 points and Blake Burris had 2 points. The Trojans were leading after the first quarter 22 to 13.

The second quarter the Trojans continued to have everything clicking on both ends of the floor. The Trojans were pushing the basketball in transition and getting whatever shots we wanted to on every possession. The Trojans picked up the pressure defensively and caused Burris to turn the basketball over. The Trojans were led in scoring by Luke Bumbalough and Blake Burris both with 6 points. Mason Hardwick added 3 points and Collin Blessinger had 2 points. The Trojans had the lead at half over the Muncie Burris Owls 39 to 22.

At the half, the Trojans made a few adjustments on both ends of the floor. Offensively, the Trojans wanted to continue to push the basketball in transition and make the extra pass to get great shots. Defensively, the Trojans wanted to pick up the pressure and full court press the Burris Owls. In the third quarter the Trojans were led in scoring by Luke Bumbalough with 8 points. Blake Burris added 6 points. Collin Blessinger had 4 points and Cole McDaniel added 3 points. Brandon Matney had 2 points and Nicolas Grieser had 1 point. After the third quarter the Trojans had the lead over the Burris Owls 63 to 30.

To start the fourth quarter, the Trojans had the opportunity to get every player in the game. The subs continued to do a great job on the offensive end, but let Muncie Burris get going on offense. Shelbyville left there starters in until about 2 minutes to go in the game. The Trojans in the fourth quarter were led in scoring in by Luke Bumbalough with 11 points. Blake Burris had 6 points. Caleb Grow added 4 points. William Grieser and Deven Fielden both had 2 points. Trey Miller and Collin Blessinger both had 1 point. The Trojans beat the Muncie Burris Owls 90 to 54.

Offensively, the Trojans were clicking from the start of the game. The Trojans were pushing the basketball in transition and moving the basketball and literally got whatever shot they wanted to in the ball game. The Trojan shooters Mason Hardwick, Cole McDaniel, Luke Bumbalough, and Blake Burris were knocking down shots all night. Brandon Matney had 6 offensive rebounds on the night. Defensively, the Trojans did a nice job of contesting every shot Muncie Burris took on the night. The Trojans also limited the Burris Owls to one shot opportunity every single possession. The Trojans did a great job tonight playing team defense.

The Trojans led in scoring by Luke Bumbalough with 31 points. Blake Burris added 20 points. Mason Hardwick had 9 points. Collin Blessinger had 7 points. Nicolas Grieser and Cole McDaniel both had 6 points. Caleb Grow added 4 points. William Grieser, Brandon Matney, and Deven Fielden all had 2 points apiece. Trey Miller had 1 point.

The Trojans are 3-4 to start the season. The New Castle Trojans will be back in action Friday, December 21 against the Mt. Vernon Marauders at Mt. Vernon High School. The Varsity game will tip at approximately 7:30pm. Go Trojans!!!
