The New Castle Varsity Boys Basketball team loses a heartbreaker to the Noblesville Millers basketball team 45 to 31. The Trojans played well in the first and third quarters, and in the second and fourth struggled to get anything going. Offensively, the Trojans got off to a good start were knocking down shots and making the extra pass for a great shot attempt. In the 2nd quarter the Trojans went ice cold from the field, but luckily the Spartans did as well. In the 3rd the Trojans were making plays and getting shots to fall. Then in the 4th the Trojans could not hit a shot or take care of the basketball against the Spartans. Defensively, the Trojans played really good defense for 3 quarters. The Trojans continued to mix it up on the defense between zones and man to man. It was getting the Spartan players out of rhythm, but in the 4th the Trojans let the lack of offense dictate what they did on the defensive end of the floor. That cannot happen against any team let alone a really smart team like the Spartans of Connersville.
The Trojans led in scoring by Cole McDaniel had 15 points. Trey Miller had 9 points. Deven Fielden added 3 points. Caleb Grow and Gavin Welch had 2 points apiece.
The New Castle Trojans are 3-7 to start the season. The New Castle Trojans will be back in action on Friday, January 15 at the New Castle Fieldhouse against the Greenfield-Central Cougars. The Varsity game will tip off at 7:30pm. Go Trojans!!!
