The New Castle Varsity Boys Basketball team lost to a very talented and well coached NorthWood Panthers team 44 to 42 in the Regional Semi-Finals. The Trojans got off to a great start and then in the third quarter they lost their momentum. Offensively, the Trojans got off to a great start controlling the tempo and taking great shots. They played as a team and the ball was always moving side to side. In the 3rd quarter, the Trojans turned the ball over and could not get shot to fall. The 4th quarter, the Trojans started getting the momentum back but it was too little too late. Defensively, the Trojans played lockdown defense in the first half. The Panthers of NorthWood could not get anything going, but the Panthers made some adjustments in the second half and they worked. The Trojans turned the ball over which led to easy baskets for the Panthers. The Trojans were down 7 and battled back and had a chance to tie at the end of the 4th quarter. The Trojans fought to the end, but just fell short when the buzzer went off.
The Trojans led in scoring by Cole McDaniel with 15 points. William Grieser had 11 points. Trey Miller added 6 points. Gavin Welch and Deven Fielden both had 4 points apiece. Caleb Grow scored 2 points.
The New Castle Trojans are 9-16 on the season.
