The New Castle JV Boys Basketball team got a win over a very tough/physical Connersville Spartans basketball team 35 to 29. The Trojans got off to a good start on both ends of the floor against the Spartans of Connersville. Offensively, the Trojans just took what the Spartans defense gave them and did not get in a hurry and take bad shots. Against Connersville you have to value possessions or you can be in trouble. Dawson Scott led the way for the Trojans and dominated inside the paint. Defensively, the Trojans played a great game until the 4th quarter, and the Trojans relaxed and let Connersville get going. Quinton Boatright led the way of defense by guarding the best player the entire game and holding him way under his average. The Trojans held on to get the victory, but have a lot of room for improvement before we play Greenfield-Central on Thursday night.
The Trojans led in scoring by Dawson Scott with 9 points. Quintin Boatright had 8 points. Ethan Hinton added 6 points. Cole Johnson and Clay Butler both had 5 points. Tyson Lewis added 2 points.
The New Castle Trojans are 8-3 on the season. The New Castle Trojans will be back in action Thursday, January 14 at Greenfield-Central High School. The JV game will tip off at 7:15pm. Go Trojans!!!
