The New Castle Varsity Boys Basketball team beat the Delta Eagles 51 to 43 in the Sectional Semi-Finals. The Trojans got off to a slow start on both ends of the floor. Offensively, the Trojans got off to a cold start, but got it figured out in the second quarter. The Trojans moved the ball and drove the gaps against the Eagles zone and it led to great shots. The Trojans were balanced in scoring and had some guys step up and make huge plays. Caleb Grow came in off the bench and he knocked down a few shots and got a few offensive rebounds. Defensively, the Trojans got off to a terrible start, but quickly turned it around in the second quarter. Branden Matney led the way for the Trojans on defense. He guarded the Eagles best player and held him to 13 points on the night. Trey Miller and William Grieser also did a nice job holding the second leading scorer well below his average. The Trojans controlled the glass and did what we knew we needed to do to get the victory. The Trojans played hard, played together, and competed every possession, and it led to a great TEAM WIN.
