Trojans fell to Wapahani 6-5 on Friday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at five with Wapahani batting in the bottom of the seventh when Kelsie Patton induced Hannah Buchanan to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
In the first inning, Wapahani got their offense started. Amaya Smith singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Wapahani tied things up at five. Meagan Barton drove in one when she singled.
Buchanan got the win for Wapahani. She lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out four.
Patton took the loss for Trojans. She went six and a third innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and striking out four.
Trojans racked up eight hits in the game. Mariah Nicholson and Madie Harter all managed multiple hits for Trojans. Harter and Nicholson each collected two hits to lead Trojans.
Smith led Wapahani with three hits in four at bats. Wapahani was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Emma Schuck made the most plays with eight.
