The following swimmers all placed 3rd in their event, Aidan Sipes (50 Free), Luke Atterson (100 Breaststroke), Andrew Lacey (200 Free), and Garrett Rusch (Diving). The Medley Relay team of Connor Griffey, Sipes, Hall, and Criswell, and the 200 Freestyle Relay of Atterson, Rusch, Dominique Strunk, and Lacey placed 2nd on the evening.
We may not have had the best night in the pool, but I could not have been more proud of my swimmers. We demonstrated what makes this team one of my favorites I’ve coached. After the events that happened in Richmond last Thursday, one of my swimmers, Payton Plank, reached out to me to see if we could do something for them last night. We talked and decided to make some signs and she made green ribbons (Dennis Middle School’s school color). All of my athletes wanted to be a part of it showing a great deal of caring and support for our friends in Richmond. Little did we know it was “Green Day” in Richmond for the school, so our timing couldn’t have been better! They have been through a lot and we wanted to show our support for them. I have told a lot of people that I really like this group of kids, and on Tuesday they showed a lot of why I think this group is so special.
