The New Castle boys won their first meet of the year against Hagerstown. Swimming well and winning two events for the boys was Jackson Criswell, in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Also winning for the Trojans were, Connor Griffey (100 Backstroke), Ben Hall (100 Butterfly), Garret Rusch (Diving), and Aidan Sipes (100 Breaststroke). The Trojans also had many 2nd place finishes on the evening by the following swimmers: Luke Atterson (200 IM and 500 Free), Griffey (100 Free), Hall (200 Free), and Aidan Shunneson (100 Breaststroke). 3rd place finishes were brought home by Andrew Lacey (200 and 500 Free), Sipes (200 IM), and Dominique Strunk (100 Butterfly). The Trojans swept the relays on the night, with close wins in the Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays. Those teams were made up of Criswell, Griffey, Hall, and Sipes. The Trojan 400 Freestyle Relay team of Atterson, Strunk, Rusch, and Lacey ended the night with an easy win in the last relay.
I was very proud of all the boys and how they swam Thursday night. All 12 boys came ready to go and contributed to the win. I couldn’t have been happier with how they swam. We had many season best swims on the night! This group is still really young, but they are figuring out what it takes to compete. I’m so happy for them to finally get a win. For the boys that swam last year and again this year, it’s a great payoff for all the hard work they have put in the last couple years. We aren’t going to be satisfied though and I’ll continue to remind them that the hard work got us here and we need to continue with the process.
