The boys varsity golf team defeated Richmond and Monroe Central last night. New Castle had a stroke total of 159, Monroe Central had 188 and Richmond had 191. Brady Wheeler was medalist of the meet shooting a 1 over par 36. Trevor Turner shot a 38, Brennon Sadler shot a 42 and Nolan Beam shot a 43. Varsity record is 5-0. Other scores for the Trojans were: Blake Hammond 44, Jacob Sims 46 and Tanner Alfrey 48.
It was just a nasty day as usual for this spring, but we played anyway on a great course. Brady Wheeler was the medalist with a 36 and that is a great round in those conditions. His game is really coming around and when we get some good weather he should start going low. I was also happy with Trevor Turner. Even though he did not play great, he scored well and really hung in there to shoot a 3 over par. We shot 159 for the 3rd straight meet when playing one or two opponents. That total will go down as soon as we start making some putts. I think right now our major weakness is our putting and we will work hard on it in practice.
