It was Friday the 13th and a full moon as Shelbyville traveled to NC for an HHC battle at beautiful Neal Field. It ended up being Shelbyville’s worst nightmare as NC put it together in all phases and walked away with a 50-0 victory.

SHS received the kickoff and after a first down, had to punt. NC moved the ball down the field on the strength of Tytus Ragle running and our passing game. QB William Grieser found Brandon Matney from 2 yards out for the TD. The xp was no good and it was 6-0 NC. SHS went backwards on their possession, as Trenton Round was in the backfield as much as the SHS QB, having 2 Tackles for loss on the possession. Round then got a partially blocked punt and NC was in business, driving as the first quarter ended.

On the first play of the second quarter, Grieser found Dakota Durick for the TD and the xp was good by Sklyer Stevenson, giving NC a 13-0 lead. SHS went backwards again and had to punt. NC took possession and moved down the field, culminating in a Grieser to Matney TD. Stevenson hit the xp and it was 20-0. The Trojan D was swarming anything Shelbyville tried. NC took over and Grieser found Durick for the TD. Stevenson was good again and it was 27-0. After another punt by SHS, NC moved down the field, and Grieser found Ragle in the corner for a TD. Stevenson added the XP and it was 34-0 NC at the half.

NC got the ball on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter and Grieser once again found Durick for the TD. Steveson was good again and NC held a 41-0 lead, leading to a running clock the rest of the game. On SHS possession, the snap was bad and Dylan Beck, Matt Bell, and Layne Nicholson were on the SHS QB in the endzone, resulting in a safety, giving NC a 43-0 lead. NC got the ball and Tytus Ragle broke free from 35 yards out for the touchdown on a great run. Stevenson was good again and it was 50-0. NC got to play most all their players with the running clock in the 4th quarter. On the last possession with the starters in, SHS tried one of 2 passes in the game. Jace Logston played it perfectly intercepting the pass. As the JV and C Team got their chance, Michael York ran the ball for NC well, having 3 nice runs. The game ended in a 50-0 NC victory.

Offensively, Grieser, completed 12-20 passes for 255 yards and 6 TDs. Matney caught 4 for 107 yards and 2 TDs, Durick 3 for 86 yards and 3 TDs, Ragle had 2 for 39 yards and 1 TD, also toting the rock 9 times for 124 yards and a TD. Cooper Rusch had an unbelievable catch on 4th down that kept a drive alive, lunging for a back shoulder pass and coming down with it. The offensive line of Dillon Floyd, Bailey Melton, Luke Witham, Landon Hutson, and Deven Fielden created holes for Ragle and kept Grieser untouched all night.

Defensively, the Trojans were all over the place. Dylan Beck and Matt Bell had 11 tackles, Beck 2 TFL, and Bell 1 TFL and a Sack. JaMorion Taylor had 10 tackles, and Trenton Round was a madman, having 8 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and a blocked punt. Overall, the Mean Green D had 13 tackles for loss. Jace Logston had 1 chance to make a play all night and he did so with the interception.

NC is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the HHC. We are back in action Friday at Yorktown for a crucial HHC game. Thanks to all the fans that came out and watched on a beautiful Friday night.
