An early lead helped New Castle Trojans Varsity defeat Rushville 5-2 on Wednesday. New Castle Trojans Varsity scored on a walk by Dakota Durick and a walk by Drew Barber in the second inning.
New Castle Trojans Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Rylan Huntley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Durick drew a walk, scoring one run, and Barber drew a walk, scoring one run.
Durick was credited with the victory for New Castle Trojans Varsity. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out two. Logan Cline threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cline recorded the last six outs to earn the save for New Castle Trojans Varsity.
Draper took the loss for Rushville. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out one.
