New Castle Trojans Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 6-1 loss to Yorktown on Saturday. Yorktown scored on a single by Taylor in the first inning, a double by McNamara in the first inning, a groundout by Taylor in the second inning, and a single by Smalstig in the second inning.
Yorktown got on the board in the first inning. Taylor drove in one when he singled.
Brumback earned the victory on the hill for Yorktown. He surrendered one run on five hits over five innings, striking out five. Reedy threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Nic Besecker took the loss for New Castle Trojans Varsity. He went five innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out five.
Corbin Malott, Chandler Marcum, Triston Chesher, Colin Holcomb, Drew Barber, and Cole McDaniel each collected one hit to lead New Castle Trojans Varsity.
Smalstig led Yorktown with two hits in four at bats. Yorktown was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Butts had the most chances in the field with eight.
