New Castle Trojans Varsity Sets the Stage for Victory With Early Lead Over Knightstown
New Castle Trojans Varsity grabbed an early lead on its way to a 10-2 victory over Knightstown on Thursday. New Castle Trojans Varsity scored on a single by Logan Cline and a stolen base by Tristan Chesher in the second inning.
New Castle Trojans Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Cline singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and New Castle Trojans Varsity scored on a stolen base during Drew Barber’s at bat. Then Barber singled , driving in one.
New Castle Trojans Varsity put up four runs in the sixth inning. New Castle Trojans Varsity put the pressure on, lead by a walk by Cole McDaniel, a single by Barber, and an error on a ball put in play by Cline.
Nic Besecker was credited with the victory for New Castle Trojans Varsity. He allowed two hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking one.
Burton took the loss for Knightstown. He surrendered six runs on eight hits over four and a third innings, striking out four.
