An early lead helped New Castle Trojans Varsity defeat Greenfield-Central 12-6 on Saturday. New Castle Trojans Varsity scored on a double by Logan Cline, a single by Colin Holcomb, and a single by Rylan Huntley in the second inning.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. New Castle Trojans Varsity collected 11 hits and Greenfield-Central had six.
New Castle Trojans Varsity pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Cline doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Holcomb singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Huntley singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
New Castle Trojans Varsity put up five runs in the fourth inning. New Castle Trojans Varsity big bats were led by Huntley, Dakota Durick, and Cole McDaniel, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
