Boys Middle School Cross Country · Boys Middle School Cross Country Place Second of Three at Home Meet

  Place Points
New Castle High School 2nd 37

The New Castle Boys Cross Country team showed some improvement, but not quite enough to beat Richmond’s team. NC took second with 37 points, well ahead of Shenandoah with 70, but behind the Red Devils’ 27 total. The Trojans kept it close, but Richmond showed a little more strength in most every spot, managing to pull out the win. Sam Reising of Richmond won in 11:59 with NC’s Jaykwan Guerrero a strong second in 12:12. The Red Devils held third just ahead of NC’s Gavin Frazier and Bradley Henderson, who were 4th and 5th. Richmond sealed it by placing 8th, 9th, and 10th. Logan Slinker followed in 12th and Harry Callaway was 15th as the Trojans’ fifth scoring runner.
There were a couple places where we might have turned things around with just a little more improvement , but many runners dropped their times for our home course, and a few had their best races of the year. Gavin and Bradley, for example, had excellent races and showed great determination battling a Richmond runner the final stretch. They worked so hard to beat him that they nearly caught another runner, whom they probably felt was out of reach. Niki Greive and Colton Lawson continue to race better as do newcomers Jeremiah Alverado and Abe Pierce. Marshall Snell came back with a Personal Record after struggling at our last meet.
We face Delta and Yorktown at Yorktown’s Morrow’s Meadow Park across from the middle school on Thursday at 5 PM.We welcome it as another opportunity to gain experience in racing before our Conference Meet next Monday on the home course.
