New Castle JV Boys Basketball Team got a good win against the Yorktown Tigers 46 to 39. The Trojans got off to quick start on the Tigers and had a 13 to 6 lead after the first quarter. In the first quarter, the Trojans were led in scoring by Sam Lowe with 8 points. William Grieser had 5 points.

The second quarter the Trojans came out and picked up the pressure on defense. The Trojans struggled to get anything going on offense. The Trojans were led in scoring by Michael Holmes with 3 points. Cole McDaniel added 2 points. At the end of the second quarter the Trojans were leading the Tigers 18 to 13.

At the half, the Trojans made some defensive and offensive adjustments. The Trojans kept up the defensive pressure, but continued to struggle to get there offense clicking. The Trojans were led in scoring by Sam Lowe with 3 points. William Grieser added 2 points and Brandon Matney had 1 point. At the end of the third quarter the Trojans trailed the Tigers 26 to 24.

To start the fourth quarter the Trojans finally got there offense clicking. The Trojans defense caused Yorktown to panic and commit multiple turnovers. The Trojans were led in scoring by Cole McDaniel with 18 points. William Grieser had 3 points. Collin Blessinger added 1 point. The Trojans beat the Tigers of Yorktown with a final score of 46 to 39.

Offensively, the Trojans did a great job at sharing the basketball but just struggled to put the ball in the basket the second and third quarters. Sam Lowe did a nice job at knocking down big shots in key situations. William Grieser was just consistent and took what the defense gave him the entire night. Cole McDaniel went off and took the game over in the fourth quarter. Defensively, the Trojans had great ball pressure in the half-court. The Trojans forced the Tigers into multiple turnovers. Logan Hinton did a very good job and getting deflections which led to steals for the Trojans.

The Trojans were led in scoring by Cole McDaniel with 20 points. Next, Sam Lowe followed with 11 points. William Grieser added 10 points. Michael Holmes had 3 points. Collin Blessinger and Brandon Matney both had 1 point.

The Trojans are 9-4 and will be in action again tonight, January 20 at the New Castle Fieldhouse against the Central Christian Chargers. The JV tip is at 6 p.m. Go Trojans!!!
