New Castle JV Boys Basketball Team got their twelfth win of the season with a dominating victory over the Pendleton Heights Arabians 62 to 46. The Trojans got off to a great start against the Arabians and had the lead at the end of the first quarter 17 to 10. The Trojans forced the Arabians into turnovers which led to easy baskets for the Trojans. The Trojans were led in scoring by William Grieser with 7 points. Sam Lowe and Collins Blessinger both had 5 points.

The second quarter the Trojans came out a little slow but continued to take care of the basketball and made Pendleton work for every shot. In the second quarter, the Trojans were led in scoring by Cole McDaniel with 6 points. Brandon Matney had 2 points. At the end of the second quarter the Trojans led the Arabians 25 to 19.

At the half, the Trojans made a few defensive and offensive adjustments. Pendleton trapped every ball screen so we started slipping the ball screens and that led to multiple layups for the Trojans. In the third quarter the Trojans were led in scoring by Sam Lowe with 12 points. Collin Blessinger had 4 points. Logan Hinton added 3 points and William Grieser contributed 2 points. After the third quarter the Trojans led over the Arabians 46 to 32.

To start the fourth quarter the Trojans kept playing hard and sharing the basketball. The Trojans were balanced in scoring in the fourth quarter. Cole McDaniel led all scorers with 7 points. William Grieser had 6 points. Sam Lowe had 2 points and Logan Hinton added 1 point. The Trojans beat the Arabians with a final score of 62 to 46.

Offensively, the Trojans did a great job at sharing the basketball and taking what the defense gave them. The Trojan defense led to good offense. The Trojans did a nice job of pushing the basketball up the floor in transition which led to wide open shots or layups. Sam Lowe did a nice job of attacking the rim. Pendleton did not have an answer for Lowe. William Grieser did a great job of taking what Pendleton gave him. Cole McDaniel always had his hands and feet ready knocked down some big shots. Defensively, the Trojans played hard and forced the Arabians into turnovers. The Trojans also made Pendleton play at a high pace that benefited the Trojans. Logan Hinton deflected multiple passes. Brandon Matney and Collin Blessinger were huge on the glass.

The Trojans were led in scoring by Sam Lowe with 19 points. William Grieser followed with 15 points. Cole McDaniel had 13 points. Collin Blessinger added 9 points. Logan Hinton had 4 points and Brandon Matney had 2 points.

The Trojans are 12-7 and will be in action again Friday, February 16 at the New Castle Fieldhouse against the Westfield Shamrocks. The JV tip is at 6 p.m. Go Trojans!!!
