Hagerstown Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory
New Castle Trojans Freshman watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-1 loss to Hagerstown on Monday. Hagerstown scored on a stolen base and a single by #0 in the first inning.
The New Castle Trojans Freshman struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Hagerstown, giving up 11 runs.
Hagerstown fired up the offense in the first inning, when #7 drew a walk, scoring one run.
Hagerstown scored four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught by Hagerstown was led by #2, #7, and #9, all driving in runs in the inning.
#2 led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Hagerstown. He allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out five.
Jorden Paige led things off on the hill for New Castle Trojans Freshman. He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out one. Triston Hargrave threw two and a third innings in relief.
Clayton Hamm led New Castle Trojans Freshman with two hits in two at bats.
Hagerstown racked up ten hits on the day. #3, #0, and #27 each collected multiple hits for Hagerstown. Hagerstown was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. #9 had the most chances in the field with eight. Hagerstown tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. #3 led the way with two.
