The New Castle 8th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team won the HHC Championship on Saturday by defeating Doe Creek in the first game and Mt. Vernon in the championship game.

The team defeated Doe Creek in their first game 71 to 37. Defense was the key in this game as the team scored 31 points off turnovers. Trey Miller lead the way with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Derek Tabor also played well with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Dillon Bergum did a great job of sharing the ball with 8 assists to go along with 7 points. Corbin Malott scored 6. Kyler Sears scored 5. Dawson Scott had 4. Garrett Rusch had 3 and Sam Maddy scored 2.

In the championship game the team defeated Mt. Vernon in a physical game 55 to 53. Trey Miller lead the team in scoring with 17. Caleb Grow scored 15 and hit some big 3 pointers throughout the game. Derek Tabor scored nine points and also had 4 key steals. Dillon Bergum had a great all-around game scoring 8 points to go along with 6 assists and 3 steals. Kyler Sears scored 6 points including the go ahead basket in the last minute of the game. Kyler also had 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Congratulations to the 2017-2018 HHC Champs!
