As we enter the final weeks before school and official practices start, team members are encouraged to begin getting some running in if they have not started already. Coach Dye applauds those who have been making it regularly to the summer runs.
There will be a run and pitch in at Coach Dye’s home in Raintree Heights (across from Memorial Park; 1891 N. Wuthering Drive). This is for any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader planning to run cross country this fall. Whether you have made any runs or not this summer, you are invited! It will be from 6 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday, July 16 , with a short run followed by the pitch in dinner. Parents and siblings are encouraged to stay for the picnic and are welcome to run with the team as well. Coach Dye will provide the hot dogs, drinks, cups and tableware. Eighth graders are asked to bring a main dish or fruit (dish). Seventh graders are asked to bring a salad or side dish. Sixth graders should bring desserts as it is a celebration! If you need to cross grade levels as to what you bring, feel free. While we have some tables and chairs out, bringing your own chairs would be helpful. In case of rain, festivities will be postponed until Tuesday, July 17th.
The Monday and Friday runs continue at 6:45 to 7:30 PM at Memorial and Baker Parks respectively, and the Wednesday morning runs are still at Coach Dye’s at 6:45 AM (except July 4th). For those wishing a little extra or prefer early morning running, Coach Carter (assistant Coach at the high school) invites you to join the high school runners at 6:30 AM. If interested, I can give you his contact information to get the different locations for those runs.
It’s a Great Day to be a Harrier!
