The NC Middle School boys cross country team defeated Rushville in a convincing manner. While Rushville’s Kyle Stanley ran an outstanding race to secure the individual victory in 11:07, the Trojans took the next six spots. Caleb Grow, in his first meet of the season, led the green-and-white in 11:31 with Trey Miller and Jonah Merida just a few seconds back. Simon Miller and Jakwan Guerrero rounded out the scoring, while Gabe Kitchell added point’s scored by Rushville by stay of the Lion’s number two runner. In a show of depth, NC put a total of fifteen runners ahead of their opponent’s fourth and fifth runners. Individually, eighth grader Dawson Scott ran a super race, tying his PR on a day where most were averaging 30 seconds slower than last week. Harry Calloway and Alex Brey also had a super runs, dropping their times from last week.
Host Rushville scored the meet with staight scoring, which meant those 10th through 18th NC runners pushed their opponent’s score to 60. The Trojans had just 20 for an easy win. With standard scoring, it was still a 20 to 43 victory. Their record is now 3 and 1.
The team runs at Glen Miller Park in Richmond on Monday and at Connersville Wednesday.
