Game Recap

NC travelled to Pendleton and in a crazy game, came away with a 14-8 win. NC dominated the game defensively, as Pendleton struggled to gain yardage, but NC couldn’t push across a score in the first half and the game was tied at 0 at intermission. NC took the second half kickoff and scored in 37 seconds, with Dylan Beck running for 40 yards on the first play and QB William Grieser hooking up with Aaron Reagan on a 25 yard TD pass on the next play. Beck added the 2 point conversion and NC was up 8-0. It stayed that way until 2 minutes left in the game, when PH blocked an NC punt and recovered it at the NC 3 yard line. 3 plays later, they hit pay dirt and added the 2 point conversion and it was tied at 8 with 1:32 left. NC took the kickoff, and had 2 penalties, pushing them back to the NC 13 yard line with 7 seconds left. Trying to run out the clock and send it to OT, Grieser handed the ball to Beck who took it up the middle, cut to the outside, got a great block,
shook one tackle, cut back and took it 87 yards with no time left for the clinching touchdown and the win.

NC was led by Beck with 154 yards on 11 carries and the TD. Grieser completed 4 passes for 51yards and the TD. Nic Besecker completed 5 passes for 51 yards, Brandon Matney had 4 catches for 47 yards, Reagan 4 for 51 and the TD, and Cooper Rusch 1 for 4 yards.

Defensively, Beck had 12 tackles, including three for loss, a sack, and one assist. Trenton Round had two tackles for loss, Layne Nicholson, Landon Burge, Dylan Wolfe, and D Ray Ford also had tackles-for-loss.. CB Jace Logston had 5 tackles and a pass defended. Burge had an interception, and Robert Porter a fumble recovery.

NC moves to one and one, and play Shelbyville next Monday night here at Neal Field.
