New Castle’s boys of fall traveled south to Rushville and came away with a 43-26 victory Friday night. Dalton Hicks recovered a fumble by on Rushville’s opening possession and NC proceeded to score on a Niah Williamson to Luke Bumbalough 8 yard TD. Carter Brown added the extra point out of the hold of Nicholas Grieser to go up 7-0. Grieser intercepted a Rushville pass giving the Trojans the ball at the Rushville 34. 4 playd later, Williamson hit Bumbalough for a 5 yard TD and Brown’s extra point made it 14-0. Rushville answered with a 44 yard TD run and ut was 14-7 after 1. In the second quarter, Williamson snuck it over from 1 yard out and Brown’s extra point made it 21-7. Rushville moved the ball down to the 1 when NC stuffed them on 4th down, but Rushville recovered the fumble forward for TD to make it 21-14 at half.
Rushville scored on their first possession of the second half, but missed the extra point and NC held a 21-20 lead. The next drive NC moved 13 plays taking 4:54 off the clock and Williamson hit Bumbalough for a 12 yard TD AND Brown added the p.a.t. for a 28-20 lead. On the next play, Rushville fumbled and Travis Reeves recovered giving NC the ball and Williamson again hit Bumbalough on 4th and 2 for a 25 yard TD. Brown’s p.a.t. made it 35-20. Rushville responded and scored to cut it to 35-26. NC then moved diwn the field, culminating in a Williamson to Tytus Ragle 15 yard TD and the 2 point conversion to Bumbalough made it the final of 43-26.

Offensively for NC, Williamson was 35-51 for 345 yards and 5 TDs, also rushing for 1. Bumbalough had 11 catches for 126 yards and 4 TDs, and added a 2 point conversion. Triston Chesher hauled in 12 passes for 89 yards and 5 first downs. Nicholas Grieser had 5 catches for 32 yards and 4 first downs. James Thompson had 3 catches for 30 yards and Tytus Ragle 3 for 69 and a TD. NC had 23 first downs in the game.

Defensively, Grieser led the way with 16 total tackles including 12 solo and and interception. Bryce Pinkard had 6 tackles, 2 for loss, a sack and a qb hurry. Caleb Pierce had 6, 2 for loss and a hurry, Trenton Williams had 7 total tackles, Travis Reeves and Hicks a fumble recovery.

NC football would like to thanks everyone that made the trip as we had a great crowd. We are back in action next week as we start HHC play at Pendleton. NC is now 1-1 on the year.
