Trojans Drops Game to Shelbyville After Late Score
Monday’s game against Shelbyville was a heartbreaker for Trojans, as they lost the lead late in a 9-2 defeat. The game was tied at one with Shelbyville batting in the bottom of the fifth when TeAnn Bringle singled off of Gabby Perdew, driving in one run.
Shelbyville captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Hannah File drove in one run when she doubled.
Trojans knotted the game up at one in the top of the fourth inning. Mariah Nicholson doubled on the first pitch of the at bat in the fourth inning, scoring one run.
Shelbyville scored five runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Shelbyville came thanks to a error, a double by TeAnn Bringle, a single by File, and a groundout.
File earned the win for Shelbyville. She pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, and striking out two. Gabby Perdew took the loss for Trojans. She tossed six innings, allowing nine runs, 11 hits, striking out two, and walking one.
Nicholson went 2-for-3 at the plate as she led the team with two runs batted in.
Shelbyville collected 11 hits. File, Bringle, and Katie Lux each collected multiple hits for Shelbyville. Shelbyville was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Morgan Stiencker had the most chances in the field with 11.
