Trojans Falls to Yorktown on Walkoff
Trojans fell to Yorktown 4-3 on Friday on the final play of the game. Yorktown was down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Mariotti singled off of Jared Heard, driving in two runs.
Trojans took an early lead in the second inning. Bryce Pinkard drove in one when he homered in the second inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Yorktown tied things up at two. Yorktown scored one run when Spears homered with two outs in the fifth inning.
Barr earned the win for Yorktown. He pitched five innings, surrendering one run, three hits, and striking out six. Jared Heard took the loss for Trojans. He tossed one and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs, one hit, and walking one.
Mariotti started the game for Yorktown. He pitched two innings, surrendering two runs, three hits, and striking out two. Garrett Welch started the game for Trojans. He threw five innings, allowing two runs, seven hits, and striking out three.
Home runs for Trojans came when Pinkard homered in the second inning and Heard homered in the seventh inning.
Heard, Caleb Matthews, and Pinkard each drove in one run to lead Trojans.
Yorktown had eight hits in the game. Mariotti and Spears each collected multiple hits for Yorktown. Yorktown didn’t commit a single error in the field. Phillips had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
