Trojans Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Shenandoah
Trojans and Shenandoah traded the lead back-and-forth on Thursday, but eventually Trojans prevailed 8-6. Trojans took the lead for good in the fourth inning. The game was tied at three with Trojans batting in the bottom of the fourth when Triston Chesher doubled off of White, driving in two runs.
Despite falling down by five runs in the sixth inning, Shenandoah tried to fight back. Shenandoah scored three runs on a groundout in the seventh inning.
Trojans captured the lead in the first inning. Trojans scored one run when Triston Chesher singled with one out in the first inning.
Trojans took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring one run, there was an error, scoring one run, and Jordan Mantor singled off of White, driving in one run.
Shenandoah scored three runs in the seventh inning. Shenandoah scored its runs on a groundout by Myers.
Derek Amonett earned the win for Trojans. He pitched five innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, and striking out four. Tyler Thompson threw one and one-third innings, as two relievers helped Trojans finish off the victory. Trey Turner recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Trojans.
Trojans collected nine hits. Colin Holcomb and Chesher each collected multiple hits for Trojans. Chesher and Holcomb each managed three hits to lead Trojans. Holcomb led Trojans with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
