Patton Throws Shutout as Trojans Defeats Cowan
Kelsie Patton didn’t allow a single run as Trojans defeated Cowan 15-0 on Thursday. Patton allowed just one hit and struck out Gossett to end the game.
An early lead helped propel Trojans to victory. Trojans scored on an error , a walk , a single by Emily Gundy, a single by Alyssa Semler, and a groundout by Emily Smith in the first inning.
Trojans captured the lead in the first inning. A wild pitch by K Rumfelt scored one run for Trojans.
Trojans scored six runs in the fourth inning. Trojans’s big inning was driven by a single by Mackayla Huckeby, a grand slam by Cameron Tabor, and a single.
A single by P Dillard in the fourth inning was a positive for Cowan.
Kelsie Patton earned the win for Trojans. She tossed five innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, and striking out 11. Rumfelt took the loss for Cowan. She threw five innings, allowing 15 runs, 18 hits, and striking out two.
Trojans collected 18 hits. Semler, Huckeby, Smith, Tabor, Gundy, Brandy Howe, and Alicen Burris each collected multiple hits for Trojans. Huckeby and Semler each collected three hits to lead Trojans. Trojans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Burris had the most chances in the field with 11.
Dillard went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Cowan in hits.
