Big Third Inning Gives Trojans Win Over Shenandoah
Trojans defeated Shenandoah 9-3 on Tuesday thanks to five runs in the third inning. Trojans’s big inning was driven by a single by Jared Heard, a single by Nathan Hacker, a single by Bryce Pinkard, and a single by Drew Barber.
Shenandoah took an early lead in the first inning. McWilliams doubled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring two runs.
Trojans took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Jared Heard singled off of McKee, driving in one run, Nathan Hacker singled off of McKee, driving in two runs, Bryce Pinkard singled off of McKee, driving in one run, and Drew Barber singled off of McKee, driving in one run.
David Bennett earned the win for Trojans. He went four and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, five hits, striking out four, and walking one. McKee took the loss for Shenandoah. He threw three and a third innings, surrendering eight runs, nine hits, and striking out three.
Trojans had 11 hits in the game. Garrett Welch, Janson Anderson, Hacker, and Heard each collected multiple hits for Trojans. Heard, Hacker, Anderson, and Welch each collected two hits to lead Trojans.
Shenandoah collected seven hits. James and McKee each collected multiple hits for Shenandoah.
