Late Score Costs Trojans Against Greenfield-Central
Wednesday’s game against Greenfield-Central was a heartbreaker for Trojans, as they lost the lead late in a 6-3 defeat. The game was tied at two with Greenfield-Central batting in the top of the seventh when Morganna Denny doubled off of Gabby Perdew, driving in one run.
Trojans captured the lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Mackayla Huckeby drove in one run when she singled.
Trojans evened things up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mariah Nicholson drove in one when she homered in the fourth inning.
Mikayla Ballman earned the win for Greenfield-Central. She went seven innings, giving up three runs, seven hits, striking out two, and walking one. Gabby Perdew took the loss for Trojans. She threw seven innings, giving up six runs, 12 hits, and striking out two.
Trojans collected seven hits. Emily Smith, Emma Tyner, and Huckeby each collected multiple hits for Trojans. Huckeby, Tyner, and Smith each collected two hits to lead Trojans.
Greenfield-Central had 12 hits in the game. Ballman, Sarah Morris, and Sam Kihega each collected multiple hits for Greenfield-Central.
