The Lady Trojans dug a deep hole in sectional play against Franklin County falling behind 2-0 late into the second half before clawing their way back to tie the game late and force overtime leading to a sudden death pk shootout for the victory to move on to the sectional final Saturday vs Richmond. Franklin County scored 4 minutes in and dominated the stunned Trojans for the remainder of the half. The second half could not have started any worse, as the Cougars tallied on a cornerkick to take a convincing 2-0 lead. The Trojans would answer on a corner of their own as Grace Smith powered through a corner by Nina Pansy. Cassie Underwood would even the score late in regulation on a feed from Pansy and the Trojans could feel the momentum changing. The teams would fight through two 7 minutes overtime periods before moving into a pk shootout. Both teams remained tied after the first 5 shooters forcing a sudden death situation. Gabbi Sorrell buried her shot, the first pk of her career, and GK Sarah Downs handled the rest, stopping Franklin County’s shooter to seal the victory. The Trojans improved to 12-5-1 on the season.
