Game Recap

New Castle traveled to Mt Vernon Friday night and on a sloppy, muddy field, came away on the short side of a 42-13 score. NC was down 14-0 after the first quarter, when they mounted a drive, culminated with Niah Williamson sneaking it over from a yard out for the TD. Nic Broyles added the extra point and NC was down only 14-7. The defense held and NC got the ball back when bad luck hit the Trojans. Williamson was trying to hit Luke Bumbalough on a pass when a Mt Vernon defender stepped in front of Bumbalough after he has slipped and returned it for a TD. NC was down at the half 21-7. Mt Vernon controlled the 3rd quarter, and NC’s final score of the night came on the last play of the game as Raul Banda rumbled 11 yards for a TD.

Offensively for NC, Banda had 52 yards on 14 carries and the TD, Nic Broyles 34 yards on 10 carries and 9 yards receiving, and Garrett House 26 yards on 7 carries. Williamson completed 5 of 12 passes for 62 yards. Nicholas Grieser had one catch for 30 yards, and Bumbalough 1 for 18.

Defensively for the Trojans, Dalton Clouse, Mason Bowers, Banda, Grieser, Mark Winkle, Chandler Marcum, and Joe Thompson were solid and lead in tackles. Broyles recovered a fumble.

NC is back in action next week as New Pal visits Neal Field. Kickoff is at 7:30. The Trojans would like to thank all those who braved a wet, rainy night to cheer them on. Nc drops to 3-4 on the year.
