Game Recap

New Castle traveled to Franklin County Friday night and came away on the short end of the scoreboard 48-18. The Trojans started fast, as they scored on the second play on offense, a 74 yard TD pass from Niah Williamson to Nick Broyles. Broyles was injured on the play and did not return. Uriah Howe broke free for a 55 yard TD run on NC’s second possession, cutting the Wildcat lead to 14-12, but Franklin County’s offense was too much, as they lead 41-12 at half. NC scored in the 4th quarter on a 16 yard TD pass from Williamson to Luke Bumbalough.

Offensively for NC, Williamson completed 6 of 9 passes for 109 yards, with the 2 TDs and 1 INT. Howe rushed 12 times for 105 yards and 1 TD. Broyles had the 1 reception for 74 yards, Bumbalough returned 5 kicks for 106 yards, and Nicholas Grieser had 2 for 36. Mark Winkle, Garrett House, and Bumbalough also carried the ball well for NC.

Defensive the Trojans were led by Mason Bowers with 11 tackles and an INT. Joe Thompson had 4 Tackles and 2 INT’S. Raul Banda, Dalton Close, Winkle, Grieser, and Bumbalough also led the defense.

NC plays at home next Friday against Rushville at 7:30. It will be the first game on the new turf at Neal Field.
