New Castle competed in the Hoosier Heritage Conference tournament on Saturday at Hawk’s Tail Golf Course. The Trojans entered the event as defending champs.
High wind gusts and low temperatures would be the topic of the day. Staying comfortable and warm, calculating yardages with the wind and committing to direction were key on Saturday. Finding fairways off the tee was also key. Hawk’s Tail had recently grown out their rough to increase difficulty.
New Castle had a great front nine. Made the turn at 149 which lead the field by 10 strokes. Brady Wheeler and Trevor Turner each birdied 3 holes on the front and both turned at 1-under, 35. Other turning scores were Kole Schofield 39, Jacob Campbell 40, Blake Wheeler 42.
The back nine played much more difficult for the Trojans, but played well enough to hold the lead.
New Castle won the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 316.
