New Castle was at the Delaware C.C. for the Delta Invite as defending champs on Saturday.
It was a rocky start before the bus even started. Trevor Turner injured his shoulder during practice on Thursday, so we were without a solid varsity veteran. Spencer Stewart stepped in to take his place. In addition, Brady Wheeler forgot to remove his clubs from his dad’s trunk on Saturday morning. His dad was half way to Michigan on business after the realization. Wheeler used Turner’s clubs for the tournament.
After the drama, the boys settled in. The Trojans won the invitational with a score of 316. Muncie Central shot 321 to place 2nd and Delta shot 329 for 3rd.
Blake Wheeler shot an even par round of 70 to tie for low individual with Bronnenberg of Muncie Central. Blake bogeyed the 1st playoff hole and Bronnenberg parred. Wheeler settled for 2nd place individual.
Kole Schofield shot 78 to gain 5th place as an individual.
Jacob Campbell shot 81
Brady Wheeler shot 87
Spencer Stewart shot 90
Trojans travel to Grandview G.C. on Monday for a match with Anderson.
