The swim season is soon underway, and the boys’ and girls’ teams have already been battling some adversity. With the pool under repair for the foreseeable future, the teams have been boarding a bus after school each day to travel to Muncie Southside Middle School in order to practice. In addition, we will be starting the season on the road, moving scheduled home meets to the opponents school until the pool reopens.
Both teams return young rosters with a lot of experience. Top finishers from last year that return in 2014-15 for the girls include sophomore Caroline Warner (200 Free – 5th HHC/2nd sectional), and senior Hannah Hawrot (200 IM – 4th HHC/2nd sectional; 100 Back – 3rd HHC/2nd sectional). For the boys, sophomore Brayton Heldebrand excelled in several events throughout last season, and sophomore David Bennett continues to grow as a diver.
The girls’ season begins next Thursday (11/20) in a three-way meet at Eastern Hancock (w/ Batesville). The boys will join the action on 12/3 as both teams will travel to New Palestine.
