The girls’ soccer team took down a solid Bloomington South team 2-1 in the regional semi-final Wednesday night at East Central. The teams played even until Olivia Malott gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead with about 12 minutes left in the first half. It was only one minute into the second half that the Panthers equalized the match. For the next thirty minutes, neither team seemed to break away from the other and it appeared that overtime was all but certain. However, with approximately 8 minutes left in regulation, Courtney Denney put the Trojans back on top, this time for good.
The Lady Trojans’ are now 15-2 on the season, and will play Columbus East in the finals on Saturday at 6:00 PM. The winner will move on to the Evansville Harrison Semi-State next Saturday. Columbus East defeated New Castle early in the season 2-0.
