|The New Castle boys cross country team competed at the New Castle Invitational. This was their only home meet of the season on a very hilly course at Memorial Park. The Trojans placed 2nd out of 7 teams scoring 56 points. The meet was won by Mt. Vernon with 23 points.
Leading the way for the Trojans was senior Sam Willis who placed 1ST overall with an impressive course record time of 17:15, two seconds faster than the original record. Willis beat a Mt. Vernon runner who previously beat him last Saturday. The next four NCXC runners placed within 7 places of each other to secure the 2nd place team finish. Sophomore Hunter Rose had a spectacular race as our No. 2 runner by placing 11th, junior Patrick Calvert placed 14th, senior Devin Solomon placed 15th and junior Justin Burkholder placed 18th. Rounding out the Top 7 were freshman Jeff Melton (22nd) and sophomore Bronson Dye (24th). Also running for the Trojans was freshman Chris Graham (32nd), senior Ross Schmeisser (36th), freshman Tyler Vance (37th), sophomore Hayden McIlwain (52nd), senior Eli Foster (55th) and junior Robbie Lamb (68th).

The next meet for the NCXC team will be Saturday at the Yorktown Invitational featuring 18-teams from East Central Indiana.
