Trojans Keeps It Close Against New Palestine, But Eventually Falls 8-5
Trojans could never quite get over the hump against New Palestine, so eventually New Palestine prevailed 8-5 on Saturday. The game was tied at five with New Palestine batting in the top of the ninth when Henry doubled off of Nic Besecker, driving in one run.
New Palestine took an early lead in the first inning. Bain’s sac fly scored one run for New Palestine.
Trojans knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jordan Mantor drove in one when he singled in the eighth inning.
Neligh earned the win for New Palestine. He went nine innings, surrendering five runs, seven hits, and striking out 14. Nic Besecker took the loss for Trojans. He pitched four and a third innings, allowing three runs, four hits, striking out five, and walking one.
Tyler Thompson started the game for Trojans. He threw four and a third innings, surrendering four runs, seven hits, and striking out one.
Jackson Malott led Trojans with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-4 on the day.
New Palestine had 13 hits in the game. Hickman, Greene, and Neligh each collected multiple hits for New Palestine.
